Artist Statement
Inspiration is my natural state of being. A dirty rock is as meaningful to me as a well-crafted sonnet; a symphony is equal to the wind caressing the twisted boughs of a tree. Opportunities and moments wait impatiently for me to translate them into a visual language of form, structure and color, with lines that dance through shadows and into the light.
There is so much to see, and so much to say, that being driven to create in this way can be challenging. I live with a constant hunger, which is not satisfied until I finish a piece of art. Then, I am blessed with a feeling of satiated peace; but it never lasts long. Within a few hours, the cycle will begin again.
My intuition directs the materials I use and stories I tell. I find hidden elements in spontaneous moments, uncovering these treasures and bringing them to life. At other times, I am led to plan diligently and have become equally adept at this method of creation. Inspiration is my guiding light. I am simply my art’s facilitator, discovering its voice and allowing it to be seen.
