Writing
There are moments in life when written words cut through you with a truth so profound that your perception of the world is irrevocably changed. Whether the words are typed, written or scrawled in crayon, the impact of them can be immediate and lifelong. However, it does not always have this effect. At times, reading simply lifts us out of a funk with a clever turn of phrase. It can entertain, educate and inspire us. It can also anger us or leave us questioning the sanity of the author. Some works manage to do all of these simultaneously while leaving us hungering for more.
The written word and I have a long history. I have been an avid reader for the entirety of my life and a writer from the moment I discovered the ability of words to translate my thoughts into a means of expression. To me, writing and art are synonymous. Life inspires both and they, in turn, inspire each other. Lately, I have been drawn to writing flash fiction and scripts, while also working on two novels in progress. I have included the first chapter of one of these, Dragonfly, in this section. There are also two flash fiction pieces which are included in their entirety. Contact me if you have questions, comments, or are interested in reading more.
